Motorcycle Tours Through Vietnam 12 days

 

Day 1, Hanoi - Halong bay. 170km, 4hr ride, National road.


Depart from hotel then take 4 hr ride by taking a busy traffic road going though the Red River Delta. You arrive in Ha long about lunch time, check-in hotel , lunch in a local Vietnamese food restaurant then go to the boat station, from here you will have a 4 hr boat trip to visit Halong Bay, the world heritage. Back to the hotel in the late afternoon. Night at hotel.-

 

Day 2, Halong Bay - Ninh Binh. 170km, 5hr ride, National road


Leaving Halong Bay then take the road no 18 to Hai phong, from Haiphong, you continue to go across the Red River Delta by taking the road no 10. Many stops en route to take photos of the rice fields and meet the local people. Lunch in a local restaurant. You arrive in Ninh Binh in the early afternoon. After check in hotel, you will have a short bamboo boat trip to discover the Tam coc river also called the Halong Bay on land. Dinner and night at the hotel.

 

Day 3, Ninh Binh - Vinh. 250km, 5 hr ride, National road.


Today you start your ride on the National road, a very busy traffic road going through many different towns, this day could be the hardest day to ride. We stop in a small town for lunch, take a short break then continue to Vinh. You arrive in Vinh in the late afternoon. Night at the Hotel.

 

Day 4, Vinh - Dong Hoi. 220km, 6 hr ride, National road.

After breakfast at Hotel, we start the ride to Dong hoi, today is a beautiful day ride with nice landscape and passes as Deo ngang and Ly hoa Passes. You arrive in Dong hoi in the afternoon, Dong hoi is a beautiful city located by the very famous Nhat le beach, You also have the chance to visit the fishing villages around this area. Dinner in a local place of special typical  fish Hotpot. Night at the hotel.

 

Day 5, Dong Hoi - Hue. 180km 4hr ride, National road


This day is a special day ride cause we have many visits of the historical remains from the Vietnam War along the road. About 1h30 ride from Dong hoi, you have the DMZ ( the Demilitarize Zone during the Vietnam American War) . Stop to visit  Vinh Moc tunnels, lunch then continue to Ben Hai river, where you will visit the old bridge which shared the Vietnam into 2 regions North and South during 20 years (1955- 1975).Arrive in Hue in the late afternoon. Night at the Hotel.

 

Day 6, Hue - Hai Van Pass - Hoi An. 160km, 3 hr ride, National road.


The morning is reserved to the visit of the Hue Citadel, where had been the capital of Viet Nam during 143 years from 1802 to 1945. Lunch in Hue then take the National road to Danang by hiking up the clouds pass Hai Van .Just in another side of the Cloud pass is Da Nang ,a beautiful city located by the China Beach, We keep going through Da Nang by taking the new road going along the China Beach to reach to Hoi An. Arrive in Hoi an in the late afternoon , Night at the hotel by the sea.

 

Day 7, Hoi An - Aluoi. 200km, 6hr ride, Ho Chi Minh Trail.


An easy ride that joins the Truong Son mountain range where we have the Ho Chi Minh Trail, turn up to North, we ride along the Laos border. Stop for lunch in a local restaurant. Arrive in A luoi in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 8, Aluoi - Phong Nha. 200km 5 hr ride,Ho Chi Minh Trail.


Keep riding on the Ho Chi Minh Trail until the road no 9 that goes along the 17th parallel, the border between the North and South Vietnam during the War. Ride all the way to Phong Nha - Ke Bang, the biggest and also the most beautiful cave in Vietnam andIndochina and is now a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The karts formation of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has evolved since the Paleozoic (some 400 million years ago) and so is the oldest major karts area in Asia. Subject to massive tectonic changes, the park's karts landscape is extremely complex with many geographic features of considerable significance. The vast area, extending to the border of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, contains spectacular formations including 65 km of caves and underground rivers. Take a boat trip to discover the beauty of Phong Nha cave and Son river. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 9, Phong Nha - Tan Ky, 320km, 6hr ride, Ho Chi Minh Trail.


Easy ride on the Ho Chi Minh highway, a nice day ride with many high mountain passes. Arrive in Tan Ky in the afternoon, dinner and overnight at hotel.

 

Day 10,Tan Ky - Mai Chau, 300km, 6hr ride, Ho Chi Minh Trail.


Continue the ride on the Ho Chi Minh highway until Cam Thuy then take a small paved road going along the Ma river through the isolated H'mong, Dao and Thai villages on an old road built by the French army. Arrive in Mai Chau by 4.00PM. Diner and overnight in a stilt house in Mai Chau.

 

Day 11, Mai Chau - Phu Yen, 170km, 4 hr ride, Northwest mountain road.


We backtrack on the main a few kilometres before embarking on a new road which drops down the side of a huge valley, steadily falling all the way back down to the Black River Reservoir. The spectacular paved road 43 rides us to an area inhabited by Kinh and both Black and White Thai ethnicities. Depending on time we can complete another side road which rises up the opposite side of the valley, offering impressive views over the area on a clear day. Just before the reservoir we breach a final steep ascent and pass by communes of Dao people, before the descent to the banks of the reservoir and a ferry crossing. Once across we follow the banks of the reservoir past village all relocated before the flooding of the valley. On easy paved road, we approach the delta settlement of Phu Yen, set in the middle of a vast valley floor of paddy fields. Overnight in Phu Yen.

 

Day 12, Phu Yen – Hanoi, 180km, 5 hr ride, Northwest mountain road.


Easy ride back to Hanoi by taking a small paved road going down along the central mountain range. Stop for lunch in SonTay. Arrive in Hanoi in the early afternoon. Tour ends.
